CHILLINOIS REGIONAL CHILI COOKOFF RESULTS

(Taylorville)—Chilli, salsa, and verde winners in the International Chilli Society Chillinois Regional competition, were announced following judging on Saturday, during the 28th annual Greater Taylorville Chamber of Commerce Chillifest.

In chilli judging, first place winner, who earned the right to go to the I-C-S World Championship, was Dearl (pron. Darrell) Thomas of Clinton, Illinois, who also received 750-dollars and a plaque.  2nd place winner, who received 200-dollars and a plaque, was Jim Weller of Rockton, Illinois; 3rd place winner was Aldo Klinghammer of Taylorville, Illinois, who won 100-dollars and a plaque.  4th place honorable mention went to Nick Groesch (pron. Gresh) from Chambersburg, Illinois.

In chilli verde judging, the first place winner, who also earned the right to go to the I-C-S World Championship, was Georgia Weller of Rockton, Illinois, who won 200-dollars and a plaque.  2nd place winner was Nick Groesch (pron. Gresh) of Chambersburg, Illinois, who won 50-dollars and a plaque.  Third place winner was Larry Eastep (pron. E-step) of Springfield, Illinois, who won 25-dollars and a plaque.

In the salsa judging during Saturday’s International Chilli Society Chillinois Regional competition in Taylorville, first prize was won by Bob Hall of Taylorville, who earned the right to go to the I-C-S World Championship.  Hall won 100-dollars and a plaque.  2nd place winner was Mike Goodman of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, who won 25-dollars and a plaque.  Third place winner was Tom Hoover of Columbus, Ohio, who won a plaque.
